Inspired by the warring rythms from Karnataka, the sufi inspiration of the middle east, the vaudou energy of the missippi bluesmen.
About me:
Autodidact harmonicist, Raphael Coz has been touring musical stages around the world for more than 10 years. With his Harmonica he has joined various formations and played all sorts of styles : Blues, rock, rythm’n blues, world music, folk …
During a trip in India in 2001, Raphaël discovers « the jews harp ». He applies to it the breathing techniques he mastered playing the harmonica. His tribal and roots style is so innovative that Jews harp becomes a part of all his individual or collective
performances.
« Ney » becomes the next instrument in the magical music box of Raphael. Made of reed, this flute emits a sweet windy and hypnotic sound. Its sweet melodies creates dreaming moments between the rythms of the jew’s harp.
At the « dream of the aborigene » festival, in 2005 and 2007, Raphael pushes jew's harp to the next level, proving that it can alone, bring a public to a collective trance. The intensity of Raphael style is always there, wether he plays, harmonica, Jew’s
harp or Ney.
His truly original and innovative style mixes warring rythms from Karnataka, the sufi inspiration of the middle east, the vaudou energy of the missippi bluesmen
